Salon Privé 2014: British Supercar Show

Salon Prive is one of the best and most exclusive automobile shows to take place in Europe. This year’s event ran from 3rd to the 5th of September featured some of the most stunning classic cars ever made and modern beauties from brands like BMW, Rolls-Royce, Lamborghini, McLaren, Pagani, Ferrari, Maserati and Abarth to name a few.

Say a big hello to the Ronax 500 which German based company, Ronax calls a racebike ready for the road. At the heart of the Ronax 500 is a fuel-injected 500cc 2-stroke V4 engine which produces 160 horsepower at 11,500rpm. There are no performance figures but given that the bike has a dry weight of 145 kg, it should be pretty quick. The Ronax 500 also comes with a 6 gear cassette gearbox.

Iconic American motorcycle company, Harley-Davidson has revealed Project LiveWire which is the company’s first ever electric motorcycle. The bike is however not for sale but consumers will be able to experience riding it at thirty dealers when the bike goes on tour across the USA. The bike will also tour Canada and Europe in 2015.

Belgian based Saroléa Racing has shown the Saroléa SP7 electric bike which will compete in 2014 TT Zero electric motorcycle race at the Isle of Man and the FIM eRoad Racing world cup. In case you did not know, Saroléa was established in 1850 and is Belgium’s first motorcycle brand. The rather cool retro looking bike comes with an axial flux motor that produces 180 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque.

The best way to look at the C evolution is as a BMW Motorrad version of the i3. The BMW C evolution is the brand's latest entrant in the urban mobility segment, and like the i3, it is electrically powered. This bike's power comes from a liquid-cooled electric motor and air-cooled high-voltage battery developing a rated output of 15hp and a peak output of 47hp.

At the Top Marques luxury brands show in Monaco, Lauge Jensen unveiled the Viking Concept motorcycle. The Danish company, Lauge Jensen, is owned by motorcycle enthusiast and grandson of the inventor of LEGO™, Anders Kirk Johansen and he says that the Viking Concept points to a bike that could see volume-production very soon.

We have several electric motorbikes on 30Npire but the Johammer J1 Electric Motorcycle is probably one of the most unusual looking bikes out there. The electric motorbike is made by Austrian based company, Johammer and is powered by an 11kW brushless AC-motor. The bike also comes with a lithium-ion battery and will hit an electronic limited top speed of 120km/h.

We should be grateful that Maxwell Hazan decided to quit his career as a designer because if he did not, it is likely that we would not have seen his vision of motorbikes as an expression of art.

The Brooklyn based artist whose creations take between six to eight months to make, is displaying two beautiful custom motorbikes based on retro engines at the MB&F M.A.D.Gallery in Geneva.

Designed by a young team - in their 20’s and 30’s - at Honda, this futuristic looking bike is said to have been inspired by bikes seen in anime and manga television known as “Japanimation”. The idea was to create a bike with great handling and engine but will captivate people just from the way it looks and makes them feel.
