The name “Bugatti” conjures images of breath-taking sports cars like the Veyron but I bet you did not know that Ettore Bugatti once designed a plane. In the mid-1930s, Bugatti teamed up with Belgian engineer Louis de Monge to build the Bugatti P100 and their goal was simple: the plane had to be the fastest thing in the air.

Bugatti also intended for the concept to be the foundation for a mass produced fighter plane that would have been built in his factories for the French government.

This is the Helicycle Flying Motorcycle which is a two-seat vehicle that can transform from a three-wheeled motorcycle to a gyrocopter. A four-cylinder engine which produces 230-hp powers the Helicycle and this machine can reach a top speed of 112 mph whether in the air or on the road. 0-60 mph is reached under eight seconds when the Helicycle is used on the road. The bike is equipped with a proprietary tilting system that allows the Helicycle handle like a motorcycle.

Described by its makers as the ultimate recreational sports vehicle, the SkyRunner has bodywork made from glass/carbon fibre composite and weighs 420kg without passengers. The SkyRunner is powered by a Ford 1 litre Ecoboost engine that produces 123 horsepower and 147.5lbs/ft of torque.

Jet packs were once limited to comics and Bond movies but thanks to Martin Aircraft Company Ltd that might all change. The New Zealand based company was formed in 2004 and it intends to have its first jetpacks for specialized use in both defence and civil defence but they aim to also develop a lighter jetpack for recreational use.
