The Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo revealed for Gran Turismo 6
Mercedes-Benz and Gran Turismo producer, Kazunori Yamauchi have revealed the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo which will be featured in Gran Turismo 6. The gull-winged Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo has the classic long bonnet that features in a lot of great sports cars and I dare say that making a car for a game have given the designers the ability to really come up with a futuristic looking sports car. One striking feature is the LED radiator grille which Mercedes-Benz says harks back to the 1952 300 SL racing car.
There are no photos of the cockpit but Mercedes-Benz say that the interior of the AMG Vision Gran Turismo is inspired by Formula1 and will have red integral sports seats that will blend into the black flooring of the footwell to form a protective shell. There will also be jet like rocker switches on both the dashboard and in an overhead console while the car’s steering column will visibly penetrate the firewall leading to the engine compartment.
The Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo is powered by a V8 biturbo engine that produces 585 horsepower and a maximum torque of 800 Nm. The car has an aluminium spaceframe and components in carbon fibre giving the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo a weight of 1385 kilograms. These figures give the car a very impressive 2.4 kilograms per hp ratio while the AMG ceramic high-performance composite braking system will stop you from crashing into barriers.
Replicating the actual sounds of cars has always been an important part of the multi-million selling Gran Turismo franchise and Mercedes Benz have said that the AMG sports exhaust system which has an astonishing eight tailpipes ( yes, eight tailpipes) will provide a powerful accompaniment whenever you decide to floor it.
Sadly this supercar won't be seen on public roads but Mercedes-Benz have built a 1:1 scale model for the opening of their Research & Development Center in Sunnyvale, California on the 19th of November. You can download and drive it exclusively on the PlayStation3 when the game launches in December 2013.
